Why My City is Cool

The City of Green Bay is receiving $1,003,000 in funding from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. Projects to be funded include: developing an energy efficiency and conservation strategy, hiring a part-time sustainability coordinator, improving efficiency of municipal buildings and fleet vehicles, and a home energy audit program. It is estimated that these activities will create or retain 24 jobs, save 68,439,293 Kwh of energy, and leverage an additional $2,020,000 in funds. Sixty nine percent of the funds will go directly to improving municipal buildings and fleet, such as lighting retrofits, upgrades to equipment in elevators, vending misers, temperature control retrofits, and other energy saving projects.
