Why My City is Cool

Federal stimulus funds have helped Brookfield carry out energy efficient projects. The City of Brookfield adopted its first generation Sustainability Plan in 2008. Although the City Sustainability Plan encompasses several elements, for the purposes of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy under the EECBG, the following areas are targeted: Building Design, Facility Management/Building Operations, and Transportation. The City of Brookfield will coordinate the transportation segments of the Sustainability Plan with Waukesha County, which is responsible for many of the major arterial roadways within the City of Brookfield. This coordination will assure that finite tax dollars are utilized efficiently and effectively.
Brookfield will work with the Office of Energy Independence and Focus on Energy, Wisconsin's public benefits program, to coordinate on measurement and verification of energy efficiency projects and green house gas emission reductions.
The City of Brookfield will partner with Waukesha County to maximise the follwoing program efficiencies:

1. The County has worked with the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation to create a revolving loan fund to assist businesses through a business to business mentoring program.
2. An element of the Waukesha County Sustainability Plan involves employee and public education. Waukesha County will promote its energy reduction successes in a variety of educational mediums.
Additionally, the City will be able to accelerate it's energy reduction and renewable energy strategies at City facilities through use of the EECBG.
